Perspired by Iceland is a non-publishing non-house of artists and writers, political animals, skirmishing against imperial words and images. It belongs to a volatile ecosystem of co-operative efforts, its members having worked together under diverse labels, since the founding of the poetry collective Nýhil in 2002. Since 2010 Perspired by Iceland has published online and in print, while partaking in various events. It is affiliated with SeND film tank and has produced a jumper.
Lecture summary We intend to give a brief lecture about the circumstantial premisses of our production: having tried and failed to establish a lasting institutional publishing house, we have reached these provisional conclusions: that for a generation lacking representation within current establishments, in media, arts and politics, an excessive superstructure is hazardous for artistic production and ends up subverting itself; that for the sake of sustainable playfulness it is imperative to avert money. The situation leaves us in a predicament of constantly changing tactics, a non-structural non-publishing non-house.
